When to Order Architectural Glass

When to Order Architectural Glass?

Specialist items of any kind carry a longer lead time than standard, off the shelf items. All of IQ’s architectural glass products are made to order to suit each design specification and application.
The lead times for our most popular architectural and structural glass solutions are as follows:

Innovare Windows and Doors – 8-10 weeks

Aluminium Windows and Doors – 6-8 weeks

Bifold Doors – 8-10 weeks

Structural Glass Items – 6-8 weeks

When planning for your project it is always important to keep in mind that there is a two week shut down period over Christmas when our glass and aluminium fabrication factories do not run. Also the aluminium factory for our large sliding glass doors may be affected by the European summer shut period of 2 weeks during August.

When to Place your Order

Glazing is usually one of the last building envelope materials to be installed on a project to make the internal space weather tight. Keeping in mind the standard lead times for high-end architectural glazing elements, as well as a standard two week design time for these highly detailed areas, it is important to order all specialist architectural glazing before things like bespoke kitchens.
Bespoke, high-end kitchens have a similar lead time to IQ’s architectural glazing so to ensure your kitchen area is ready for installation on arrival it is imperative that all glazing items be ordered before the kitchen and internal furnishings. If you have any questions regarding ordering from IQ please contact Jake Randall our Commercial Director on 01494 722 880.

You should also consider the feasibility of installation and maintenance when designing your internal layout. Placing fixed, non-moveable furniture items or fixings such as kitchen islands beneath large glass roof panels could prove problematic in the future should the glass need fixing or replacing.
